Birthdays and anniversaries

We’re celebrating Swansea’s 50 years as a city this year.

On 3 July 1969 HRH Prince Charles came to Swansea shortly after his investiture as Prince of Wales to give the proclamation that Swansea was to become a city.

On 10 December 1969 the official charter was signed, and Swansea officially became a city.

To mark these special dates, if you are celebrating a 50th birthday or a 50th wedding anniversary between 3 July and 10 December this year, then we’d like to invite you join us in our celebrations.

The Lord Mayor of Swansea, Cllr Peter Black CBE is holding a special garden party at the Mansion House on Saturday 31 August and Sunday 1 September and we’d love you to join us.

The entries have now closed. Terms and conditions apply.
